Courtney’s House was founded in 2012 as a nonprofit resource center, offering a safe supportive environment for social activities to adults with developmental disabilities. Courtney (who has autism and an intellectual disability), along with families like hers, was the inspiration for the program.
We began by offering Social Groups and eventually created our Music & Art Clubs. In 2014, after becoming an affiliate of UCP of SLO County, we were able to work on the idea of opening a café to provide job-training opportunities. After a chance meeting with Chris Dillow (owner of Fig Good Food) we opened "Fig at Courtney’s House." Her reputation, commitment, and heart for this venture make for a beautiful partnership. All of us here at the café are so excited to offer this unique opportunity. Our goal is to build a program our families and community can be proud of.
We sincerely thank you for your patronage. With the support of our neighborhood, our town, and our county, we will not only achieve our goals — we will help adults with developmental disabilities achieve some of theirs.
